2013 Spring IDN Keynote Speakers

Eric O'Daffer
Research Director, Gartner

The goal of the Affordable Care Act passed by Congress in 2010 was to ensure that all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care and to create a platform to contain future costs. It certainly is a fundamental shift in reimbursement practices for each of us but while the goal of access to quality care for all Americans is laudable, what does it look like when it’s being implemented?

These three healthcare leaders are leading their respective supply chain organizations in implementing the policies mandated by the Affordable Care Act. Hear how each of their systems are being impacted by the formation of new care models such as ACOs, value-based purchasing, gainsharing, population health management, Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), Medical Device Tax, among the other policies impacting their organizations.
Major (Ret.) Dan Rooney
USAF (Ret.)

From the outside, flying an F-16 jet looks like a very independent act, as its one pilot maneuvers one plane. But when you go into combat, fighter pilots in a squadron must form one unit that has a common mission working toward a common objective. As a pilot who served three tours of combat in Iraq, Major Dan Rooney knows the importance of working as a team when the stakes could not be higher. Rooney highlights the importance of personal accountability, working together and ultimately having the backs of your team when you are on the line.

Rooney speaks with authority as someone who lives his life in service of those who have served. Speaking with conviction and as a man who has also found success in the military, philanthropy and professional golf, Rooney’s life experiences demonstrate lessons of faith, teamwork, trust, compassion and triumph.
Chuck Lauer
Healthcare Business and Policy Expert

Chuck Lauer welcomes another group of prominent health system CEOs to the IDN Summit. His popular Thought Leadership Panels are always the highlight to the General Session programming of the IDN Summits. Learn how these chief executives are leading their systems during dramatic industry change and fostering a culture of accountability. You’ll learn how to develop a culture that encourages open communication, trust, and accountability to improve the delivery of world class patient care. The session will be designed to encourage audience interaction and exchange.
